Job Title: SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Applications are now sought from experienced Senior Mechanical Engineers for a role within our Maritime business unit at Garden Island, New South Wales. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with the contractual and company requirements.
The position is accountable for;
• Developing and optimising mechanical detail designs and presenting the designs in design reviews
• Undertaking mechanical system, equipment detailed design and analysis to identify the optimum design for the defined system
• Reviewing the translation of systems, equipment designs into a manufacturable product and incorporating design for manufacturing factors
• Providing the integration and validation of the mechanical system, equipment design including contributing to the integration and validation plans and reports
• Undertaking mechanical equipment qualification activities and analysis of results
• Utilising test tools effectively to undertake test, integration and verifications including diagnosing problems and analysing results
• Manage the planning (cost and schedule), allocation and deployment of team members and workload
• Ensuring team size and capability mix is optimised for successful delivery of the work-package
• Managing and reporting against the teams work programmes including analysis of risk
As the ideal applicant, you will have:
• A naval architecture, aerospace, mechanical degree qualification and satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute to Engineers Australia
• Previous thermal design, conduction, convection, radiation experience
• Demonstrated experience across fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, structural analysis and design for human engineering
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience
• A strong understanding of design for manufacture, cost, safety, environment
• A design for test and environmental qualification
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
