Applications are now sought from experienced Senior Electrical Engineers for a role within our Maritime business unit at Garden Island, New South Wales. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems in accordance with the contractual and company requirements in order to achieve the required business performance.
This pivotal position is responsible for;
• Deriving electrical system requirements, defining the test requirements and participating in system design and electrical systems requirements reviews
• Undertaking functional analysis and developing optimised electrical system detail designs and presenting in design reviews
• Undertaking engineering management of the electrical system manufacture
• The transition of product development to installation or assembly
• Gaining and exercising engineering authority at tier 2
• Managing the planning, allocation and deployment of team members, workload and ensure the team size and mix is optimised for successful delivery of the work-package
• Working within the engineering frameworks set out by engineering management, capability developers and domain experts
• Leading a team of engineers
As the ideal applicant, you will have:
• An electronic, electrical engineering or technology degree qualification, satisfying the requirements for membership to Engineers Australia
• Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with engineers within the project, self-motivation and a proactive approach to progressing all assigned tasks
• Substantial experience within an electrical engineering discipline, preferably in a Defence or Maritime environment
• Previous experience in developing electronic, electrical equipment design, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of electrical or electronic solutions, its integration, validation and qualification testing
• Demonstrated experience across most of the following technologies, design analysis techniques and development tools
• Substantial leadership experience
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
