Corporate Operations Group (COG) provides specialist professional services, human resources, workplace infrastructure, and technology and market operations to Macquarie's businesses. The primary purpose of COG is to support and enhance the value of Macquarie through the creation of an efficient, scalable operating model. This is evident across the activities of each of the divisions.
The Technology division within COG is responsible for the management of Macquarie's technology infrastructure, the support and development of existing business systems and the delivery and deployment of new systems, technologies and services. It comprises business aligned teams which provide dedicated and specialist services to businesses as well as central teams which provide shared services, such as infrastructure, to multiple businesses.
The Macquarie Private Wealth account team, within the Technology division provides technology support for the following business areas in Australia, NZ and Asia:
Full Service Brokerage
Wealth Management
Private Banking
The team has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Project Manager to deliver projects aligned to our business strategy through new systems delivery and/or system change.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Planning and managing all technology aspects of projects from commencement to completion, including implementation management - planning, estimating, tracking, scope and change management, closure
Effectively managing a team of Developers, Testers, and Service Transition staff to deliver successful project outcomes
Working with the Business Project Manager on interdependent touch-points for successful project delivery
Following the SDLC and processes within the account team and contributing to process improvement - including project management improvements
Developing strong relationships with our business and colleagues and leaders through integrity, trust and delivery amongst other core values
Demonstrating firm, consistent and mature behaviours with stakeholders and team e.g. thorough expectation management
Demonstrate sound, firm leadership in both smooth and challenging times ; managing competing demands in a challenging environment
Effectively managing vendors - fostering strong relationships while getting successful outcomes
The following skills are required:
PMP or similar qualification and practice
Experience driven from technical knowledge and expertise in the Financial IT world
Financial Services system experience - in particular trading and settlement systems
Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship building skills - strong focus on collaboration and effectively communicate a point of view to obtain the support / buy in of key stakeholders
Ability to soundly manage concurrent projects
Ability to drive to outcomes and to foster clear team vision
Demonstrated ability to lead a team through real understanding of the delivery, not simply task monitoring; particularly in environments where team members are not always co-located
Ability to work to a deadline and handle pressure
Strong problem solving aptitude and ability to intelligently challenge and question approach and decisions
A strong appreciation of key business drivers and technology's strategy in developing project approach
Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
Experience delivering infrastructure projects such as application upgrades, or infrastructure based upgrades
Experience in delivering projects in the online space
Thought leadership with respect to the impacts and challenges that online delivery channels pose to financial institutions
Experience in dealing with advisors, financial planners, stockbrokers and the systems that they interact with on a daily basis (example CRM, client aggregations systems, portfolio management systems, trading systems, research systems, market data systems.)
This role would suit a programme/delivery manager with a strong technical background.
