An opportunity exists for a Product Development Manager to manage new products development as well as continuous improvements for cost and quality. This role will be responsible for managing a team of people and providing technical support / guidance to the broader business to support strategic direction. We are looking for a leader who can create direction for the R&D team and broader business.
This position is responsible for leading future innovation and ensuring ongoing improvements in productivity and accuracy of research and development programs and systems.
Responsibilities
• Lead people and manage product development programs, including the activities of product development technologists and technicians in order to provide cost effective and timely delivery of NPD, technical and improvement projects to meet agreed action standards
• Manage the day-to-day operations of Product Development department: including, time-lines, resources and costs
• Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with the Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Sales functions to ensure NPD goals are achieved
• Build and maintain a high performing work team with high levels of engagement
• Deliver technical projects, cost reduction projects and product improvement projects to agreed standards and time frames

• Previous experience in a similar role within the FMCG environment with strong project management skills
• A minimum of 6 years+ product development experience, including extensive technical knowledge of food processing, raw materials and ingredients
• Extensive thermal process experience
• Tertiary qualifications in science, food technology or a related science
• Creativity and an understanding of food science: functionality and composition
• Strong planning, problem solving and decision making skills
• Demonstrated leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills
