About the role

Boral Concrete Victoria provides high quality concrete for large infrastructure projects, commercial construction and residential projects and is seeking a responsible, organised and experienced individual to join our team.

Reporting to the Production Manager, in this is a hands on role, you will be responsible for the daily management of the Boral Concrete plant in North Melbourne – Boral's largest concrete plant in Metropolitan Melbourne.

Duties/responsibilities

·  Manage various plant staff including permanent & non permanent employees and contractors,

·  Ensure compliance with Boral OH&S Policies, Procedures and Safe Work Practices including Lockouts, work permits and JSA's,

·  In conjunction with the Sales Service Centre, allocate, batch and dispatch concrete in line with Boral's quality standards and the Boral Production System.

·  Take responsibility and accountability in the use of a computerised maintenance management system (eAM), and utilise Oracle eAM for reporting and preventative maintenance activities for fixed and mobile plant & equipment,

·  Management and purchasing of raw materials

·  Complete site profit and loss reports

·  Undertake continuous activities, site  tool boxing and report on KPI's as required, and

·  Facilitate LEAN implementation.

Skills/experience

·  A proven background in management,

·  Relevant batching and concrete industry experience (essential),

·  Qualification in Engineering/Management/Business (desirable),

·  Current drivers licence, forklift licence and FEL ticket,

·  Risk management experience,

·  Strong people skills and communication skills,

·  Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines,

·  Demonstrated ability to keep up to date with relevant Australian Standards and product specification,

·  Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with all people, and to lead and influence people,

·  Personal drive and results-orientation, and

·  Experience in the implementation of LEAN manufacturing principles will be highly regarded.
