Downer Infrastructure is looking to appoint an Automation Electrical Engineer within our Gladesville office to support the Maintenance and Services team in providing professional engineering services to our clients. The position is responsible for undertaking detailed electrical design, on-site installation and commissioning. Extensive experience relating to power electronics, variable speed drives and motor controls will be essential. This role will require an astute, dedicated team player, who will play a key role in delivering superior service, while working on high profile projects. About you:
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Electrical) with a strong focus on Power Electronics.
• Demonstrated experience in the field of Industrial Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years in Power electronics.
• Have proven experience in the design of control systems focused on motor controls
• Experience in controls and control systems design, programming and commissioning with a strong focus on Power Electronics, Variable Speed Drives / Motor Controls
• Knowledge of Thyristor and IGBT variable speed drive applications will be advantageous.
• Experience in electrical design, fault finding and commissioning of industrial automation plant / variable speed drives.
• Experience in preparation of estimates installation and maintenance works.
• Understanding of shunt field DC and three (3) phase AC machines.
• Knowledge and understanding of data transfer in relation to Serial and Ethernet communication protocol would be advantageous.
• Be outcome focused and have strong communication, organisational and problem solving skills.
• Understanding of business control systems.
• Ability to prioritise and work within a team environment.
• Well developed computer skills with expertise in industrial engineering applications.
• Understanding of the importance of Zero Harm work practices.
