Job Title: Diabetes Educator
Part Time position - 22.5 hours per week
Supportive Management
Current Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA essential
The position of Diabetic Educator has been created at Knox Private Hospital.
Primary responsibilities for this role include:
Providing expert diabetic advice and education to our patients reflective of best practice diabetes management as requested by our visiting medical officers
Overseeing the management of our diabetic and newly diagnosed diabetic patients by nursing staff
Providing our nursing staff with in-service education in relation to diabetes management
Knox Private Hospital is a 310 bed fully accredited acute private hospital located in Wantirna. The services provided include Emergency Services, Extensive Surgical Specialities, ICU/CCU, Cardiology, Medical, Maternity, Day Unit and a twenty four hour Cardiac Catheter Laboratory.
The hospital has ten operating theatres which offer a broad range of specialities including, Cardiac, Neuro, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Urology, Laparoscopic, Colorectal, Vascular and General Surgery.
Essential Criteria:
Postgraduate qualification in diabetes management recognised and credentialed by the Australian Diabetes Educators Association
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Well refined prioritisation and planning skills
Well refined ability to conduct presentations and education sessions in a forum
Committed to best practice nursing care and quality improvement initiatives
