Job Description
The role is critical in ensuring that the Bank continues to meet its tax obligations accurately and in a timely manner.
This role works closely with the Group Tax Manager and Senior Tax Accountant and has extensive contact with the Finance team as well as other business units within the Group.
KRA
Key Tasks
Tax Compliance
Preparation of the Bank’s consolidated tax return and trust tax returns
Preparation of monthly BAS and payroll tax returns
Preparation of the Bank’s FBT returns, including collation of workpapers
Preparation and lodgement of the Bank’s income tax returns
Preparation of tax calculations and disclosures required for the Bank’s half yearly and annual accounts
Preparation of tax effect accounting calculations for half yearly and annual accounts
Research & Advisory
Research and provision of advice to other departments in relation to various tax issues that arise (incl. GST, FBT, Income Tax. Payroll Tax, Stamp Duty)
Assistance with collation of data for the Bank’s Research & Development activities
Business Improvement and Ad-Hoc Issues
Identify taxation issues which may arise and work with Group Tax Manager to resolve
Learning & Development
All identified mandatory training to be completed and assessments successfully undertaken in accordance with the training plan
Required Skills
Skills & Knowledge:
Sound knowledge of Australian tax legislation incl. GST, FBT, Income Tax, Payroll Tax
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of the business.
The ability to promote tax awareness and compliance through the organisation
Ability to meet deadlines without supervision
Attention to detail
Ability to plan, organise and manage own time and to handle multiple tasks

Required Experience
Qualifications:
Accounting / Commerce degree qualified
CA or CPA
Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in a corporate or chartered accounting environment

The purpose of this position is to assist the Manager Asset Management Group (“AMG”) to manage the Bank’s troubled and impaired exposures. The role seeks best practice efficiencies whilst minimizing lending losses, and promoting a prudent risk awareness culture across the Bank.

Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, including, but not limited to: Consumer Credit Code, Bankruptcy Act, Privacy Act, The Property Law Act, Corporations Law, The Environmental Protection Act, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Banking Code of Practice, Trade Practices Act.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Extensive knowledge and experience in corporate liquidations, receiverships and administrations and an understand of legal and accounting processes as they apply to bankruptcies
Excellent knowledge of APRA reporting requirements
Ability to work autonomously to both established and forecast deadlines
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, in view of the nature of the position.
Possession of a professional, methodical and efficient approach to problem solving.
Required Experience
Previous involvement in Recoveries or Asset Management (desirable)
Lending experience (essential)
Understanding of key business drivers and key success factors in business (essential)
Specialised knowledge in corporate recovery and insolvency practices (desirable)
