> Job Description:Queensland Alumina Limited is one of the world's largest alumina refineries and is an integral part of the coastal community of Gladstone in Central Queensland.
QAL is seeking a Superintendent - Process Engineering to join our Technical Services department. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the role is responsible for leading a team of process engineers to provide value adding process expertise to the operations group, focusing on short to medium term process issues and plant-wide optimisation. The successful candidate will be accountable for development of strategies and procedures for process management, process monitoring, problem solving and the development of improvement opportunities.

> Role responsibilities:
1. Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities for process improvement with a focus on process safety, product quality, production cost and process stability (with minimal capital outlay)
2. Develop technical skills of individuals and group, including communication skills, systems development and problem solving
3. Deploy accountability for process monitoring and outcomes
4. Provide regular refinery performance reports
5. Maintain and communicate area process plans aligned with planned operations and maintenance
> Key Attributes:
1. Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering (or similar)
2. Minimum of 5 years' experience in an alumina plant with detailed understanding of the process interactions in all Bayer sections required
3. Proven experience leading Technical teams would be highly desirable
4. Excellent communication, influencing and leadership skills
5. Previous experience with Lean Six Sigma and Process Management Systems development desirable
