Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will initially work with GE and the acquired company’s engineering leadership teams to define and execute the Engineering integration plan. Objective of integration will be preservation of acquired company’s successful practices and designs and incorporation of appropriate GE design, safety, and compliance processes and practices. This role will be key to the success of the engineering function post integration-to shape, lead and execute programs.
Essential Responsibilities: Work with Engineering leadership team of both companies to do the following:
- Assess existing engineering designs and establish plans to close any gaps in safety, compliance, or reliability
- Assess existing engineering practices and processes and establish plans to close any gaps
- Assess engineering team, establish plan to ensure expertise in critical skills exists in more than one individual.
- Ensure that business deliverables are being met while integration activities take place.
- Support GE business processes GPB, S2, IOP, Session C.
As integration work concludes the role will shift into a senior engineering role focussed on developing, leading, and executing programs and projects to meet business commitments.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or related Engineering field.
- Minimum 5 yrs engineering experience in mining, propulsion system or equipment design, or related industry.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Desired Characteristics:
- Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering
- Experience in a variety of engineering processes such as application / requisition, field support, factory support, and new product introduction.
- 3 or more years of experience in the underground mining industry
- Domain knowledge in hard rock and soft rock mining
- Field experience related to underground mining practices, equipment, propulsion systems, and vehicles
- Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with applicable engineering tools and systems
- Experience with vehicle propulsion systems including adjustable speed drives, electric motors, batteries / energy storage, and vehicle control systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- PC proficiency
