Group Treasury's Balance Sheet Management team reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for managing the Group's capital, funding and liquidity position. The team advises senior management on balance sheet capacity, cost, risk and return and is also responsible for developing incentives (for example through transfer pricing and capital charging) and supporting the CFO on strategic issues. It is also responsible for supporting the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO).
The Strategic Projects & Decision Support team is part of Balance Sheet Management and is seeking to hire a Senior Associate to join the team. In this role you will assist with the analysis and interpretation of complex data in order to assist with decision making at the Senior Management level. Working in a high calibre team, you will be exposed to the inner-workings of an internationally active financial conglomerate group. You will contribute to the development of policies and practices that will shape the outcome of Macquarie's business activities and have exposure to Macquarie's Senior Management, in a non-hierarchical, merit-based environment.
You will be responsible for:
Conducting analysis of capital and funding related data, and developing insights that will assist with Senior Management decision making;
Assessing performance of the Group's businesses and communicating results to Senior Management;
Developing methodologies to support decision making;
Developing incentive frameworks to link business performance to shareholder returns;
Recommending initiatives to appropriately and optimally structure Macquarie's products and businesses;
Keeping up-to-date with regulatory capital developments and assessing their impact on Macquarie and its businesses.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Outstanding academic background in a financial or quantitative degree, e.g. actuarial, accounting, economics, engineering, mathematics. You will have a Distinction / High Distinction average;
Demonstrable working experience in a highly numerate / analytical position; Clear & concise written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to understand and succinctly explain complex data;
An excellent eye for detail with an ability and desire to investigate deeper when required;
Advanced spreadsheet skills;
Commercial acumen and an ability to 'see the bigger picture'; and
A strong interest in corporate finance.
