The Sydney Clinic is seeking an Admissions Officer with an exceptionally high standard of customer service for a 1 month contract role.
This position is responsible for the administrative admission and clinical assessment of patients into the facility in an efficient and timely manner.
The Admission Clerk will accurately enter the information onto the facilities IBA patient management system, perform all health fund eligibility checks, collect health fund excesses and co-payments, explain to the patient the Privacy Act procedures and clarify any uncertain issues that may be identified. The Admissions Clerk must also be clinically competent Risk Assessing requirements.
The Admissions Clerk will work in close liaison with the Bed Manager and treating Psychiatrist to ensure details for incoming bookings are managed efficiently.
Key Roles:
Plan and process all relevant admission paperwork in preparation of incoming admission
Collect all patient health fund excesses, co-payments or self-insured monies as per the health fund eligibility check within two days of admission
Answer phone calls, act on faxes etc. answer telephone enquiries and redirect as indicated
Participate in area meetings, be accessible to staff
Ensure patient is aware of the Privacy Act, their rights and explain the role of the hospital in supporting the Act
Ensure effective dialogue with NUM, ward staff and VMO.

Essential Criteria:
Currently registered or eligible for registration in New South Wales
Registered Nurse experience in drug and alcohol or mood disorders
Desirable Criteria:
Demonstrated excellent clinical skills and judgement
Demonstrated teamwork, team management, and problem solving skills in the clinical setting
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient and staff safety and risk management
