Mine Production Specialist – 12 month Fixed Term

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer – Production, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of operations through the implementation of an effective short term plan.
You will provide immediate direction to the contractor on a daily basis and identify performance enhancement opportunities including:
Provide leadership in safe and efficient mine production
Carry out inspections and audits throughout the open cut operation
Optimisation of truck and shovel operations
Liaise with contractor supervisors and superintendents to achieve compliance to the short term and medium term production schedules.
Provide inputs for the weekly planning and scheduling.

This role requires a values based individual with a desire to deliver best practice outcomes with skills and personal attributes including:
Experience in hard rock, open cut mining with a focus on meeting daily operational targets and mine development is essential.
Solid experience in an open pit operational mining role is essential. (eg Leading Hand/Supervisor)
Sound knowledge of drill & blasting activities.
Practical experience in the development and deployment of Mine Planning and Mine Operations Systems.
Strong computer literacy with emphasis on the MS Office Suite and mining software (Vulcan, Surpac, Datamine, Minesite etc.)
Qualifications related to mining and/or leadership will be highly regarded.
Proven ability to develop excellent relationships with people at all levels of an organisation, including on site contractors.
Excellent analytical skills combined with well-developed problem solving ability.
Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written.
Previous open pit planning experience is desirable.
Strong results orientation combined with high level attention to detail and well developed planning and organisational skills.
